I've been working at LO for a little over two months now, and I do have to admit that it is a great "job"!
I've learned a couple of things working there, and I'd like to pass them on to all of the "newbies" (and I mean that with the best of intentions)... 1) When the AFs call QA, literally don't type anything unless it pertains to a call that you're on at that moment. Don't even type a "thanks" if the AF answers a question. 2) Remember when the schedule rolls out, and be early. 3) ALWAYS look at the marquee in the room AS SOON AS you get in chat to make sure QA isn't in session. 4) If you need help with something, don't be afraid to ask. 5) Never answer "questions", when you're in the chat. The AFS have the latest information, and they know what is going on better than we do. 6) NEVER discuss call volume in chat. 7) Make sure to download AIM, because it is the only way to contact the AF outside of chat. 8) IF IT ISN'T IN THE FAQs OR SCRIPT, the AF on duty won't have the answer either. Refer to Customer Service. 9) No matter how frustrated you get, NEVER take it out on the AF, and NEVER vent in chat! You won't be around long if you do! 10) Take all of the quizzes that you can, (I myself have taken ALL of them except for the Spanish), because they will improve your product knowledge if nothing else, and you won't act so confused when the script pops up for the very first time. 11) Main thing...RELAX, take a deep breath because some of the openings can be long. 12) Always keep something to drink nearby. 13) Don't overdo it starting out. It's too easy to get "burned out" while trying to make the "big bucks". Start out slowly, and take breaks in between shifts. 14) Never let the customer get on your nerves. I've been doing this kind of work for almost 9 years now, and I love it when I get an irate customer on the phone. Let them vent for a few minutes, and then take control!!! 15) No matter how bad of a day you're having, NEVER let the customer know that! They'll feed off of it, and you won't get any upsells! For now, I guess that is about all that I can think of. I hope that this might help at least one person out some. ![]() Last edited by Witt3439 : 10-05-2006 at 03:53 AM. |

Great post! I've been working at LO for 8 months now and I'll have to agree with all you've said.

The only thing I can think of is don't be afraid to postbox your AF, go to team meetings. They are very informative.

Thank you very much for the help.
How long do you all work? I am wanting to work from 2am-7am 5 days a week, with a 1/2 break in the middle to feed the animals. I was working for W*st and after a few weeks of 7 hour days, I was getting burned out. |

I just wanted to add, remember to read the script verbatim. Don't skip upsells unless the customer tells you they are going to cancel.

during the week there are always commits being let go so it's pretty easy to get shifts during that time, even if you don't have them scheduled. i also do those hours uncommited and don't do that bad either. |
