What is ChaCha.com?

ChaCha is a new search engine that launched on Monday September 4th, 2006. The difference between ChaCha and other search engines is that ChaCha uses human "guides" to assist users with locating the information they need.

Information about being a ChaCha Guide

ChaCha guides log in to the system (called the application) to work. When there is a search available it will pop up for the guide to accept or decline. When you accept the search the system launch a dialog box that allows you to speak with the user. You also have many tools available to assist you with the search. You are then able to send the information you find directly to the user. If the user has the information they need you end the session or they may have you continue with other searches for them.

ChaCha guides are paid for the actual time they spend assisting users. They are NOT paid for the time the spend waiting for searches. This is very much like being paid for talk time with other phone jobs available. At this time you will earn $5 per hour (remember the is per active hour of search time).

As a guide you have the chance to move up to other levels. At master level you will earn a 10% bonus on your network (those you invite to be guides at chacha). At the elite level you will earn $10 per hour (again that is active hour of search time).

You are paid via a debit card that will be sent to you. You can use the card anywhere or at an atm to get cash. At this time we are unclear as to if there will be any fees with this service.

How Can I Become a Guide?

NOTICE: At this time ChaCha has closed invites. They are wanting to get everyone already involved trained before they bring in the next wave of guides. Many people have started waiting lists of people interested that they will invite as soon as ChaCha opens them again. Please contact someone to get placed on their waiting list.

You can only become a guide by being invited by a guide. I am sure if you will look around here you will find many people that would be happy to send you an invite. Just contact the person you like and request they send you one. Please include your email address with the request. Hotmail and MSN does not seem to let the invites through so to save time please send your request with an alternative email.

I did it! I am now a guide, Now what?

First congratulations. I hope that this is a wah job that will help you reach whatever finacial goals you have.

The first thing you need to do is get trained in your keywords. To do this log into the Underground (this is the application on your desktop. Make sure that you are available. Training searches can now be sent to you. You will have to be patient they will not all come right away.

So tips on training searches.

Use proper grammar, and spelling, do not use internet slang and abbrivations many searchers may not be familiar with it.
Always ask if the results or information you have provided is what the searcher was looking for. Continue to search until they are satisfied.
Always ask if there is anything else that the searcher would like you to search.
Always thank them for using ChaCha.
Ask, Ask, Ask questions. You are in training, if you do not understand something, have problems or need any help at all ask the trainer. If you see a training flag above the chat box then this is your time to ask.
NEVER transfer a training searches (one where you see the flag). If you are stuck just ask for help.

Anything else I should know?

Yes! First this is an alpa version and the site is very new there are glitches and bumps in the road. All is being worked out but you MUST be patient. Here and some known issues and fixes if we know of one.

The random pop-ups asking you to watch the apprentice training videos over again. Usually this will occur three times, one for each key word when you log on. Just close it out and try and be patient. This will continue to happen even when you pass the apprentice level.

Random crashes where you are in the middle of something and it shuts down or getting a search and the infoseeker stops responding. Or you do a search for an infoseeker but there is no rating, even though you clicked "I'm Done."

The inability to log on, download the application at all or the system telling you you are using the wrong password.

Not being able to do a regular search on your own to try out the system

After reaching Pro, not getting more than 3 keywords at a time.

Clicking to accept a search and have nothing happen. Usually this means another guide has already taken the search.

Internet Explorer Script Errors popping up during search sessions and freezing everything. FIX: Alt-Y and it will go away and you can continue the search.
