Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

OK. so they refer us to a credit check for $55. And the scuttlebutt is that even with stellar credit you can be turned down...I side with most everyone here that there is no point applying only to be turned down...

If there is anyone here who works for VIP who might be able to give more insight, I'm sure there are many of us who would like to hear more to justify the expense...

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

I applied two days ago and have not heard anything. I have good credit too after really working to build it up from a not so good divorce years ago. But, I think 55.00 is steep too. I think companies pay to log on to certain credit agencies and it is a monthly fee, and I can't imagine it is costing them that much. That should be the last resort. If they want to hire you and that is all they are waiting on, then, yes, I would do it too, but to take it knowing you have good credit and not knowing if you will still be hired, that sounds like fraud to me. Anyone checked them out on BBB? Maybe everyone that has good credit should file a complaint, that may make them change the way they go about it.

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

So, they basically, come to different boards, knowing that they will get a massive response, charge all of us a fee of $50-55 to filter our ownselves out for the credit process, they don't pay a dime and still get to Say, Sorry you cannot come and work here you no good crediters LOL. Quite Genius I must say. Quite Genius.

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

well actually as far as them coming to the board vipdesk is listed as one of the virtual jobs on the board and has been for at least a year now. I think Tim came to let people know that they may be hiring at this time as far as I know vip is a legitimate and good place to work,I don't agree with paying 55 dollars for a background check or credit check only to be told you may or may not get the job. Today it all about taking chances do u take a chance and not do it and possibly miss out on a job or do you take a chance pay it and still miss or not miss out on a job who knows now I can only speak for myself and let say lol I ain't got 2 dollars to give away lol. But I do understand about taking chances and sometime we do have to take chances we may lose and we may not no one actually knows unless they take that chance.does anyone know if you get the 55 back at least if you get it back then i say go for it.

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

Well I'll say it again....It DOESN'T cost $50 to do a credit check. NO way and I know this b/c I used to lend credit....I had to pull credit all the time....

After reading this .. I've concluded that I'm not paying this and am waiting for good news ..

...so that's my peace .. that's all I'll say on that

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

Hi Everyone - Just a couple of things to clear up any confusion:

1. We do not make a single dollar off of the credit/background checks.
2. The $55includes a credit check, and national criminal background check, and an address verification check.

I understand one's reluctance to pay for this check without being offered a job. However, if you know you have good credit, then the $55 shouldn't seem to be a risk. Additionally, for the program we are hiring for now, there is a substantial bonus offered once you pass the certification check (around $200).

We have accepted a lot of people this week - whether or not they subscribe to this board is unknown to me.... and please understand that I am only trying to offer up information, not persuade anyone one way or the other. It is not a scam (we have been in the virtual at-home market since 1997), nor are we making any money off of our screening process. VIPdesk provides the highest level of customer service out there, and we pride ourselves not only on this but on our corporate culture.

Hope this helps!

Tim Gordon

Thank you for taking the time to better explain things to us. I do have a few questions as I am going through the hiring process right now. I have only been screened via email and have a 30 minute interview coming up next week.

I have been asked if I can be available from 4p-2am for shifts but I can be available by 6pm due to my first/mail job. Also, how are Brand Ambassadors paid? Ive heard of per minute and hourly.... I am curious and have concerns around making myself available for a shift with a low cv and then not being paid. Is this is hourly rate position or per talk minute which depends on call volume?

Also, can you be very specific about what will disqualify someone as a result of the credit check? This can include: prior/current bankruptcies, charge offs, liens, settlements, late payments, judgements, etc etc. Is the credit of the applicant looked upon as a whole or is there a cut off score?

I think knowing this information would make it easier for most in deciding whether or not VIPDESK is a suitable fit and vice versa if this information was clarified.

Please advise.

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

Tim,

We do appreciate your'e taking the time out to explain. I believe that you are in deed a legitimate company. I don't doubt that. I believe you hire the best I don't doubt that either.

I'll understand you can't talk about pay. Not in this kind of setting. Perhaps one on one. That's not an issue.

While no one CAN speculate as to why certain peoples get denied hiring; there are some people here on this board claiming that they are getting turned down even though they have very good credit.

Tim, I believe that's the part of scaring people. If people could just know if they're credit is @ a certain level and then they will get hired, I think they can stomach the fee better. However, when they see other people with good or great credit applying and not getting hired, that's a tough pill to swallow.

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

I did receive an email to upgrade my ram to 512, but it still did not say that I was hired...so do I spend more money and upgrade and hope that I get hired or forget it? I truly do not know what to do. I believe that it would be a great company to work for...its just that I am living paycheck to paycheck (as most people) I would be totally willing to upgrade my ram if I knew for sure that I had the job...I am unsure as to how to take that email...I was not turned down, but I have not been sent a contract either...

My view also. No one has posted that they have been accepted and are training. I hesitate to send in hard earned money.

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

OK, thanks for the questions... some answers:

1. No one is training yet. Training starts November 6th and goes for two weeks.

2. The hiring process is not complete, which is why you haven't heard anyone say they are up and running. First we screened the applications. The second step is to have a quick phone interview - and we still have lots of those to go. The third step is computer verification, credit/criminal check, and a personality profile. If one is successful after that, we will enter into the contract phase.

3. As for upgrading your computer, etc., I am not sure what to say. You have to have certain hardware specs, and if you do not we cannot hire you.

4. As for credit, it is difficult for me to explain how that decision is made (especially since I am not the one making that decision). However, we look at a a variety of things, including chargeoffs, late payments, bankruptcies, debt to income ratio, etc. Everyone's credit history is so very different that we can't come up with a formula. You can have a bankruptcy - but it depends how recent it is. If you filed for bankruptcy two years ago, and have had perfect credit since then, you have a good shot. Everybody has a story, so we keep an open mind about special circumstances.

I can tell you we would not reject an otherwise great applicant if they had a 700 or 800 score. If that candidate does not make it through it is for other reasons...not the score. We have hired many people with lower ratings. But again, we look at more than the score...sorry I can't be of more help, but you would be amazed (or maybe not) the vastly different stories - not one is the same...

Hope this helps!

Tim

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

Thanks Tim. I think most people would feel better if they heard something like: "Everything looks great on your app and as long as you pass the credit/background check, you will be hired." Or something like that. Then one should pretty much know if he/she will e ok.

Just my opinion.

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

it is just not the credit check alone that the $55.00 covers. I assume it also covers Criminal check also. And lets say they have to pay the person that is doing all of this. So in effect it would possibly be even more than the $55.00. I would do it if they would call me. I have had my application in since they started the Brand Ambassador program. Look in email everyday and boo woo. lol

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

no they can't take the background check ... nor credit for that matter if it was done w/in the last 2 year ... or even last 2 months or days ... 1) it needs to be done by THEIR workers 2) anything could have happened since the last "check"

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

I'm new to the work at home thing, but I applied to VIP Desk a few weeks ago. I had a phone interview last Thursday (and I was not very impressed with the interviewer, but that's another story).

I agree with the other posters. I'm not sure what this company is looking for when it hires agents. I've heard nothing back, and I have a FICO of over 800! I was a marketing manager for the 2nd largest bank in the world. I took escalated calls from clients, business partners and customers (these people were seconds away from suing the company). I wrote training materials for call center agents related to marketing programs - Bottom line, I do not have call center experience, but my experience is applicable and transferrable. Also, I completed 30 of 60 credits toward my MBA with a 3.73 GPA. I'm available to work during the hours requested. I'm now a stay at home mom to 2 year old triplets and looking for a work at home opportunity.

I can't imagine what VIP Desk is looking for if individuals with call center (and virtual call center experience) or individuals like me with a different but professional background are not getting hired. I'd like to hear from someone who has been hired and is scheduled for November training to see what the profile is of an acceptable candidate. I was so interested in this company, but it doesn't look promising! In the meantime, I'll start working with West on Friday. At least someone wanted to hire me!

Stay with W at least it is a permanent job and you can work when you want. Something better will come along. Keep on searching. I have two interviews today for better opportunities. I don't think I want another one with pay per talk time.

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

Thank you for the positive response. I've been applying to a lot of companies. Hopefully, something else will pan out. I'm excited to start with West and get some experience, but I've heard it's hard to get hours. We'll see what happens. I still have VIP Direct in the back of my mind hoping that might work out.

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

I'm new to this forum, and I just want to say I was considering applying for this job UNTIL i read the threads mainly

Quote:
It also provides an additional screening filter for us, as those who do not have good credit should not apply.

If your credit is good, and you pass the client certification, in many cases we offer a bonus that exceeds the cost of the credit/background check.
I'm very offended by this. I for one do NOT have good credit, but I had $50,000 worth of surgery done as well as lost my job and unfortunately my husband is in the process of losing his job due to shutting down the company. So for you to say someone with bad or not so good credit are not hard working just blows my mind. My credit rating has absolutely NOTHING to do with how I work. Nor does it make me ANY LESS TRUSTING. For that reason I would never want to work for your company. I can't believe you would flat out discreminate against people that way.

Anyway, i think I will avoid your business at all costs.

To everyone else I'm sorry that one of my first posts here was not very nice, but I'm sorry I'm a sahm of 3 small children, who is currently desperately looking for work to help my family survive and for someone to come here and say i'm not a hard worker or trustworthy because of my credit thats just wrong. I think too many people are putting to much faith in credit reports these days. So those of us with not so good credit are just doomed to fail. Anyway I'm sorry.

FIRST,

Let me say I'm not an advocate on taking $50 and not getting hired and not getting that money back ok?

However, to address your concern that you had 50k in med bills .. I'm just saying .. according to his post he did say "Everybody has a story, so we keep an open mind about special circumstances." OK? So I would talk to him 1 on 1 with him for YOUR SPECIFIC "situation"....

HOWEVER there's a few things I have to say .. I know TimG is getting a very bad rap b/c he's stuck his neck out to come here and tell us about the opportunity. I think if it were last year and my household were in a different situation we might have risked the $50, but we can't now.

ANOTHER thing I want to say....... PLEASE NOTE a lot of employers run your credit check these days. Perhaps some people aren't used to it b/c I've found as IC for these at home phone services .. don't usually ... A LOT OF companies do ... AND whether they are telling you or not SOME COMPANIES do infact deny you hiring because of your credit. Insurance companies pull your credit and make a decision based on your credit. It's actually more of a common practice then what MOST people actually know of. Like it or not it really does happen!! AND you won't get a chance to "plead your case" .. its that simple. HOWEVER, TG is saying so we keep an open mind about special circumstances .. a lot of companies won't even give you that...

So, while I'm for not spending money to not get anything back ... just wanted a few things clarified

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

I totally understand that, my problem with it is, I don't think its right to automatically assume because someone doesn't have good credit that they aren't a good hardworking honest person. Thats my only problem. I of all things don't think its right to flat out discreminate against someone and say if you have bad credit DON'T APPLY. I just felt the wording was all wrong. Oh well, sorry I even posted. If someone would like to delete it. That will be fine. And I'll mosey on over to another board. Sorry for bothering you.

Re: VIPdesk Connect - Lots of Opportunities!

you're not being a bother and you don't have to apologize .. if you'd like them to consider you due to your specific circumstance then pm him ...

I just wanted to get the point across the VIP isn't the only company that does credit check ..... EVERYONE does anymore .... and just wanted to maybe come a bit from his defense........

BUT

that's not to be confused w/ me advocating upchuckn $50 .. I just don't have that kind of mooooooooola ..

that's all
